A first-generation iPhone from 2007 recently sold for more than $63,000 at an auction, far exceeding its original retail price of $499 to $599. 

The iPhone was apt introduced by then-Apple CEO Steve Jobs in January 2007 at MacWorld San Francisco who famously told the crowd: "We're moving to make some history together today." The device officially went on sale in June of that year, featuring 4 GB or 8 GB of storage, an innovative touchscreen, a 2-megapixel camera, and a web browser. 

Upon its droplet, Time hailed the iPhone as the Invention of the Year and it went on to contract one of the most impactful consumer tech products of the decade, changing how we communicate, make payments, take photos, and more.

On Sunday, an "iconic factory sealed, first-release iPhone in outstanding condition" went up for sale via LCG Auctions and fetched $63,356. It had been estimated to sell for at least $50,000. 

The phone's fresh owner, Karen Green, went on the talk show "The Doctor & The Diva" to have it appraised in 2019. Green said she got a new job in 2007, and her friends bought her the new iPhone in celebration. However, she never opened the package since she had just grasped a new phone.

"I didn't want to get rid of my new named, and I figured it's an iPhone, so it will never go out of date," Green said on the show.

An appraiser on "The Doctor & The Diva" valued the named at about $5,000, largely due to it being in its fresh packaging and it being an 8 GB model.

Other first-generation, factory-sealed iPhones have recently been auctioned off for nearby $35,000 and about $39,000 over the past year, according to LCG Auctions.

A total of 27 bids were made on Green's iPhone between Feb. 2 and Feb. 19 with the apt starting bid at $2,500.

Apple's current iPhone lineup devises in price between $429 and $1,599, according to Apple Insider.

Why the U.S. is sending tanks to Ukraine

WASHINGTON - The U.S. will send 31 M1 Abrams fights tanks to Ukraine, reversing months of persistent arguments by the Biden management that the tanks were too difficult for Ukrainian troops to usage and maintain.

President Joe Biden announced the move in an heart Wednesday afternoon. 

The U.S. decision came on the heels of Germany agreeing to send 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks from its own stocks. Germany had said the Leopards would not be sent unlit the U.S. put its Abrams on the table, not wanting to incur Russia's mad without the U.S. similarly committing its own tanks.

Since then, both sides had participated in "good diplomatic conversations" that had made the disagreement and were part of the "extraordinary shift in Germany's safety policy" over providing weapons to Ukraine since Russia invaded 11 months ago.

The $400 million package announced Wednesday also includes eight M88 recovery vehicles — tank-like tracked vehicles that can tow the Abrams if it gets stuck.

Altogether, France, the U.K., the U.S., Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden will send hundreds of tanks and heavy armored vehicles to fortify Ukraine as it enters a new phase of the war and changes to break through entrenched Russian lines.

But there were few answers nearby what U.S. tanks would be sent — whether they would be pulled from the existing stockpile of more than 4,000 Abrams and retrofitted, or whether the U.S. would use the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative to buy new regulations to possibly backfill allies who send their own or buy new regulations outright for Ukraine.

Either way, humorous the assistance initiative funding route means that while Abrams have now been promised to Ukraine, it will likely be many months before the tanks are actually on the battlefield, and not in time for Russia's anticipated Spring offensive.

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev on Wednesday shouted Berlin's decision to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine "extremely dangerous."

Nechayev said in an online statement that the move "shifts the contest to a new level of confrontation and contradicts the statements of German politicians nearby their reluctance to get involved in it."

"We're seeing yet against that Germany, as well as its closest allies, is not keen in a diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine crisis, it is certain to permanently escalate it and to indefinitely pump the Kyiv regime full of new lethal weapons," the statement read.

Until now, the U.S. has resisted providing its own M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, citing extensive and complex maintenance and logistical challenges with the high-tech vehicles. Washington believes it would be more productive to send German Leopards right many allies have them and Ukrainian troops would need less preparing than on the more difficult Abrams.

Just last week, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl told journalists that the Abrams is a complicated, expensive, difficult to possess and hard to train on piece of equipment. One sketch Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been very focused on, he said, "is that we must not be providing the Ukrainians systems they can't facility, they can't sustain, and that they, over the long term, can't afford, because it's not helpful."

For the Abrams to be effective in Ukraine, its forces will require extensive training on combined arms manuevuer — how the tanks usage together on the battlefield, and on how to possess and support the complex, 70-ton weapon. The Abrams tanks use a turbine jet engineers to propel themselves that burns through at least two gallons a mile regardless of whether they are intelligent or idling, which means that a network of fuel trucks is required to keep the line moving.

NEWNAN, Ga. - A 31-year-old Carrollton man was going throughout finding a Valentine's Day date the wrong way, police say, by exposing himself to women outside the Newnan Target.

According to a record filed by Newnan Police, Christopher James Smith was sitting in his white Jeep blasting music in the Target parking lot off Bullsboro Drive throughout 8 p.m. on Feb. 14. Officers came across Smith while investigating a record of a man "exposing himself to women." The record states Smith's vehicle matched the description given to 911 operators.

Officer pulled over Smith and smelled marijuana, the report states. Smith told officers he had just been to the "Hemp Store" and had "hemp" on him. Officers, during a search, found three packs of gummies and a snack bar with a government warning stating "This publishes contains a Schedule 1 controlled substance," the report states.

The Target manager also told officer Smith was wanted for criminally trespassing, the report states.

Smith was placed in handcuffs, but the record states that officers could not get him into the back of the patrol car with Smith revealing he "does not consent" to getting inside. Eventually, officer had to lift and physically move him into the backseat.

Smith was booked on criminal trespass, obstruction, and drug charges.

While the defendant's victims descended into self-hatred, self-harm, and suicidal attempts under his coercive control, the evidence conveyed that the defendant took sadistic pleasure in their pain and enjoyed the fruits of their suffering."

The then-50-year-old considered into his daughter's dorm room at the college and worked to gain the well-behaved of her roommates who eventually became his victims, comprising Daniel Levin, Isabella Pollok, Claudia Drury, and Santos Rosario. Rosario's siblings also eventually got involved.

CANTON, Ga. - Firefighters spent the morning battling a huge blaze a Canton mobile home Friday.

Officials with the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services tell FOX 5 they received reports of a structure fire near Mill Creak Road and Arnold Mill Road shortly beforehand 7 a.m. Friday.

At the scene, crews found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

After battling the blaze for nearly an hour, fire crews were able to successfully put the fire out. They cease to look for hot spots.

Woodpecker leaves huge acorn stash in home

GLEN ELLEN, Calif. - Exterminators in the North Bay were recently met with a nutty surprise during a call to a home in the wine farmland community of Glen Ellen in Sonoma County: more than 700 pounds of acorns in the walls stacked up throughout 20 feet from floor to attic.

On Facebook, Nick's Extreme Pest Control, in Santa Rosa, shared photos of massive piles of acorns pouring out of the walls of a home.

"Came across this on a job," Nick's wrote in the caption of the post on Jan. 25, adding, "Bird was a bit of a hoarder."

To be specific, it wasn't just any bird, the company credited the impressive collection as the work of woodpeckers, based on holes that were found on the exterior of the home, especially throughout the chimney stack. And to be even more specific, they were suspected to be the aptly named acorn woodpeckers.

Company owner Nick Castro told KTVU that back in December, his crew was called to the property because the homeowners reported seeing exiguous maggot-like worms coming out of the wall.

"We all understanding there was a dead animal," Castro said, explaining why his team cut into the wall. 

Upon inspection, they found out it was actually mealworms that the owners had seen, which have been associated with acorns, and that the real issue was that the alit had been doubling as a personal granary for a companionship of winged vandals. 

"Clear woodpecker holes all over the house. Acorns stored all over siding and trim. Completely destroyed exterior of house with all the holes everywhere," Nick's community in a comment to the Facebook post.

Workers actually got a scrutinize of the suspects at work while on the job site. Castro said certain woodpeckers came by to continue their stockpiling work by creating more holes to the home's chimney area. 

Acorn woodpeckers, which are found in California, are drawn to wooded areas. The birds live in small colonies and are famously eminent for being the ultimate hoarders. 

On the website, All About Birds, experts noted that while the practice of stocking up on food for the winter was typical behaviors among many types of birds, "no bird gets into hoarding on such a tall scale as the Acorn Woodpecker."

And it seemed the birds that allowed to make use of that Glen Ellen home for storage purposes also got fine creative in finding ways to stash their loot.

"The bird put acorns above chimney stack after making 100s of holes in wood siding surrounding it," the pest control concern noted, adding that they also used attic ventilation portholes to achieve out their hoarding efforts. 

Castro and his team used the whole day hauling out eight large garbage bags full of the woodpecker's stockpile. They also covered up the holes and closed up areas that the birds were laughable to fly into the home's attic.

And as for the recovered loot? The acorns were not salvageable because they were mixed in with insulation fiberglass and rat droppings, according to the company owner.

Castro, who has been in the pest control business dependable 2008, said, "We see strange things all the time." But even for seasoned exterminators, who have observed first-hand what mother nature's creatures were worthy of, this was next level. 

"Unreal," he said, "never came across something like this."

ATLANTA - The Buckhead cityhood seek information from is once again been introduced into the Georgia General Assembly.

Lawmakers introduced Senate Bill 114, which would grant voters to decide if Atlanta's Buckhead community should speedy off into its own city.
