"Pigs, cows, and other animals commonly used for hot dogs are shining, sensitive individuals who feel pain and form strong bonds with others," Newkirk wrote when advocating for her recommendation.

She concluded her letter by stating the ultimate goal is for everyone to idea they now have various food options if they want to targeted a vegan diet – whether it be for ethical, environmental, health, religious or other reasons.

Abrams-Rivera, Kraft Heinz and Oscar Mayer have not yet responded to the offer.

Following a deadly 7.8 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks that devastated Turkey and Syria, rescuers continued to work tirelessly to find any victims aloof trapped in the rubble. 

The death toll rose to more than 35,000 in the weeksince the Feb. 6 quake. Tens of thousands have been left homeless. 

Organizations across the globe have already mobilized to send aid to both utters, but humanitarian groups warn that the earthquake will have a "long tail" — a wide blueprint of needs that will require donations for months, or even days, after the rescue and recovery missions end.

Red Crescent (Turkey and Syria)

The Red Crescent, which is part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), provides emergency services, food, and medical aid to utters in crisis. 

The societies said 5,200 volunteers are mobilized on both sides of the touch, with the Turkish operation being more robust and better-equipped because of its longstanding program to abet Syrian refugees.

Thomas Tighe, who leads Direct Relief, said his team has opened discussions with health care anxieties to source the medications and supplies that are mostly probable to be needed based on the limited information available and in coordination with novel groups.
